Like the Borghese family, the Barberini family was very influential in Rome and the Catholic Church (both families produces a pope or two).
Although the art was quite beautiful here also, I’m sure you need a little break so I’m giving you one. And I want to show you the space in which the art is displayed, because sometimes that can be more fantastic than the art itself.
Most of the Italian museums used to be palaces of the nobility and have retained some of the grandeur and splendor that accompanies being unfathomably rich in the Baroque age. You usually have to take a second to re-orient yourself when you enter into a new room before looking at the art – there is just sometimes too much to take in!
