Tivoli Day Trip

From Rome, we took a short train to Tivoli the day after Christmas (St. Stephen’s Day) since everything in Rome was closed and I mean EVERYTHING! (FYI it was a gloomy day so all the photos are kind of dark)

Tivoli was on my Italy list because it has TWO UNESCO sites! Seriously mind-blowing. First was Villa d’Este for it’s preserved Baroque villa & gardens with over 100 fountains.

The second UNESCO Site was Hadrian’s Villa (a.k.a. the Emperor’s party house) – we had some trouble getting there because I thought it was wayyyy closer but it happened to be down the side of the mountain a few miles away. Tivoli branding needs to work on that.
