Swiss Weekend: Part I

Swiss Weekend: Part I

As momentous as it was to reach 31 UNESCO Sites this weekend (La Chaux-de-Fonds/Le Locle #30 and Berne #31), I was way more excited to spend the weekend with a friend that I had not seen in over 2 years. To be honest, I was nervous at first that it would be awkward because we only knew each other for a few weeks while interning together at the Orlando Museum of Art but I have nothing but amazing things to say about my weekend with Léonore. I wish I could have stayed longer!

I arrived in Neuchatel around 3:30 pm on Friday and met up with Léonore and some of her friends for drinks to warm up.

That night we also had an amazing Swiss dinner at Léonore’s parents.

For the record, no one else really spoke English besides Léonore but that certainly did not mean we couldn’t communicate! It was actually a ton of fun using hand signals, English, Italian, French, and some Spanish to get the point across and it worked out quite well! Her parents were so welcoming with me and even with the language barrier, I felt right at home. Not going to lie, I was picking up French decently well and if I knew the subject, I could follow along…sort of. I’m pretty proud!
