Many people mistakenly think that the desert is a dead landscape: devoid of life and greenery with long stretches of shifting sands. Now there is certainly a lot of sand in a desert landscape but that does not mean it is dead. Many years ago my family visited Death Valley and that was my first experience of a desert landscape; I was blown away!
So when I saw that we would only be about an hour from Joshua Tree National Park while out in SoCal this past Thanksgiving Break, I jumped on the change to introduce my husband to this subtle, yet severe landscape. We had a great day walking, climbing boulders (getting scrapes), and enjoying the quiet of a barren horizon.
I’ll write another post on how to visit, but for now enjoy the photo diary of Joshua Tree National Park!
