I am not much of a New Year’s Eve lover, in fact I’d much rather be in bed but my family begrudgingly dragged me out this past year and I am so happy they did! Even though the temperatures were so incredibly freezing and miserable, it was an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience.
We went to Munich’s Olympic Park because it was the highest ground in Munich. Normally this is the best spot to view all of the city’s fireworks but this year is was incredibly foggy. So foggy that you couldn’t see the street corner!
When we got there it was already a crazy party of people carrying too much booze and flammable material to be ok. Will and I hiked up to the top of the hill to what I can only describe as a rave in the sky. There were lights, screaming, dancing, drinks around, and lots of fire. Since it was so foggy it felt like we were floating in a cloud (I guess technically we were). People were lighting fireworks left and right and because of the fog you couldn’t always see them until they lit up. Once or twice we moved away form a group that was going to blow off a body part given enough time.

At the stroke of midnight we popped out bottle of Champagne, kissed for the new year, and ate our grapes. 🙂 We stick to the Cuban tradition of eating 12 grapes at midnight, symbolizing good luck for each month of the new year.
