As much as I lament that America’s 250th birthday falls during the second Trump regime, I might as well still celebrate American the Beautiful. As I was editing a post from our summer Cape Cod trip I was fondly recalling out family crab boils and I thought it would be fun to peruse what New England food experiences were listed in the book 1,000 Foods to Eat Before You Die by Mimi Sheraton.
- Boston Baked Beans
- Boston Brown Bread
- Fried Clam Roll
- Jasper White’s Summer Shack
- Lobster Savannah
- Main Lobster
- New England Clam Chowder
- North Atlantic Clams on the Half-Shell
- Steamer Clams and Broth
- Thanksgiving Turkey Broth (only added here as a nod to Plimoth Plantation)

P.S. Italicized & bold means I have eaten it; also the book has way more general “American” cuisine, but this post is just about New England specific cuisine.
