Travel Style: Looking Polished While Traveling

So Will and I are both public school teachers so we don’t make a ton of money but it is always more than enough to get by and travel a lot. Therefore, when we travel we also do it on a budget, but that does not mean that we look sloppy while abroad. So here are some of my tips on how to look polished when traveling, while NOT breaking the bank! 🙂

Packing

It’s obvious to say that what you pack for vacation directly impacts how your pictures come out (aka how you look). I am all about comfort AND cuteness! You don’t have to sacrifice one for the other. Pack pieces that are comfortable, versatile, yet polished. I always try on my outfits before packing them so that I can make sure they fit well and can be versatile for multiple days.

Travel Tip: Make sure you can use individual pieces with at least 2-3 outfits in case you change your mind while away and to save space in your suitcase.

Maintenance

I love getting my nails done and I try to get them done before a trip but if I can’t manage that, I make sure to take care of them while away. You would hate to take a nice close up shot only to realize your cuticles are a wreck. Sounds stupid but I feel it makes a difference for me.

Travel Tip: Gel nails last much longer and chip less than regular nail polish but you cannot take them off at home (I tried, it was awful!).

Accessories

Sunglasses, hats, and scarves galore! I am never far from a number of travel fashion accessories, no matter the vacation and no matter the season. Simply putting on one of these items makes me feel extra fabulous but they also cover up unwashed hair, stains on shirts, and tired eyes – double win!

Travel Tip: Be careful when packing straw hats, they lose their shape easily. I always walk on the plane with my hat in hand.

Care while Traveling

No matter if your use packing cubes or roll your clothes, you’re bound to get some wrinkles, unless you’re a wizard. If you have the space, a small travel iron is not a bad idea. My husband hates wrinkly clothes with a passion so he likes to bring it, and now that he has it I started using it more while traveling and love it.

Travel tip: If you have never used packing cubes, I highly recommend them! Not only do they keep things more organized but it also helps with the wrinkles.
