Lago d’Orta

Lago d’Orta

This past weekend I was able to go on a little day trip with my host, Maddy, and of course her dog Dolly. We went to the nearby town of Orta, which everyone was telling me I just had to go to!

It was absolutely breathtaking, or as I like to call it, an “oh shit” moment, because usually that’s what comes out of my mouth after my breath comes back.

I also got to sneak in a UNESCO Site by accident! Gotta love it! The site is part of a larger UNESCO Site called Sacro Monti. In the mountains of Lombardy and Piedmont are little chapels dedicated to different saints and different forms of Christianity. The ones in Orta are all dedicated to the full life of St. Francis of Assisi’s life – so there were many of them! Kind of creepy, I’ll be honest…
