Europe, Italy

Hello from Roma!

Hello from Roma!

So I originally went to Rome was to see my Aba and Tio come in for a cruise! I was equally happy to see them as I was to see the art, but probably a little bit more happy to see them. We got to spend just shy of 24 hours together, Saturday afternoon to Sunday at noon.

After spending last weekend in Switzerland with my friend (I can hardly believe it was only last weekend!), my nonexistent homesickness grew a little. So, it felt really nice to actually get a piece of home this weekend.

Now let me explain this “homesickness.” I am not homesick in the traditional sense; I have yet to lose it over missing my family, I have yet to cry my eyes out in loneliness, and I have yet to want to leave Italy. That being said, I am reaching that point in my journey when I am becoming ready to go home. I think perhaps it is because I know it is almost my time to leave; I wonder if I would feel like this if I knew I had to stay an extra few months?

While I’m on a sappy stream, let me briefly talk about my supportive boyfriend, William. First off, I absolutely love him. Secondly, everyone I have talked to about this trip recognized the amazing opportunity I am having but they all acknowledged how difficult it could be because of my relationship. I’m not going to lie, there are definitely times I wish he was here to share in the awesomeness of my trip or I wish I could talk to him whenever I wanted to. But all in all, I think this has made our relationship stronger, and it was pretty darn strong before, so that’s saying a lot. It made me realize how much I rely on him to be the person I go to for everything and that I want to share everything with him. But on the bright side, he will be here in less than 3 weeks and I can’t wait!

Ok, I’m done being sappy. Now onto my adventures in Rome! Read about them here:
