Photo Diary: Driving in Germany

Part of our Christmas Germany trip was to the northern section of the Black Forest; somewhere we would definitely need a car. So oru family of 5 rented a small SUV for two days. I was not the person doing the rental logistics (that was Will’s job!) but from my perspective it wasn’t too bad.

My dad did not need a special license, his American Driver’s License was fine (but this is not the case everywhere!), and we had no issues whatsoever at the shop. We did, however, study up on German road rules and traffic signs before hoping behind the driver’s wheel – that is a must! Even though they weren’t THAT different from the USA, and mostly self-explanatory, you don’t want to get stuck on the road trying to figure out what you can and cannot do! As all European cars go compared to American ones, this one was small. We had to play advanced-level Tetris to get all of our bags AND people in 🙂 but in the end we made it!
