Photo Diary: Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg is one of the largest living-history museums in the U.S. It’s such a fun place to explore for the day (or more!) with its tree-lined avenues, carefully restored houses, and fantastic actors in period costume. Each day they recreate daily life as the American Revolution is raging through the colonies.

In addition to walking around and popping into shops there are also special programs about slavery, street-side debates, life of colonial women, meet famous Revolutionaries like Thomas Jefferson, play some children’s games, and etc.

If we had the full day we would have probably done the $50 day pass but since we only had the afternoon, Will and I did the Sampler Pass for $25 dollars. And there are plenty of other options for multi-day passes to spend longer in the city.

P.S. Some other great living museums include Plimoth Plantation in Massachusetts, Jamestown Settlement and the Frontier Culture Museum, both in Virginia.
