Berlin: The city of the Wall, Prussian power, & museums

We spent four very full days in Berlin, the capital of Germany. It was the last leg of our 2-week Christmas Germany trip & I was nervous we were going to be on each other’s nerves but this time especially considering our last AirBnb was just a studio apartment BUT it worked out, we spaced out our time well and we ended the trip on a high note.

Day 1

We arrived off of our AWFUL night train at 6 am caffeined-up to hit the city! We couldn’t check into our AirBnb until 3pm so we stuffed our bags into the lockers at the train station. Today was a day of walking! We visited parts of the Berlin Wall, Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, Akexanderplatz, Brandenberg Tor, Embassy row, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, & the German History Museum. It was a great day to get the lay of the land and understand the city’s vibe.

Day 2

Will and I decided to break off to go to museums we specifically wanted to see, namely: Neues Museum, Medical History Museum, & the Bode museum. While my parents and sister spent most of their time in the massive Museum of Technology.

Day 4

Will and I swung by Checkpoint Charlie on our way to the Museum of Technology (my parents were obsessed with this place and rightly so!) and then a picnic in the museum lobby we went off to Potsdam to visit Sanssouci Park’s palaces.
