One review activity I enjoy doing at the end of the year is using FFCC charts to compare two pieces from the 250. If you are unfamiliar with this type of activity check out my blog post about ideas for AP Art History review. I like to assign students pairings that breaks their expectations and forces them to really look at two disparate artworks that they do not feel they can find any immediate connection. It is also useful to give them pairings from two very different historic contexts that I may not have made connections to through the year but have clear thematic through lines.
Note: I do not use any artworks from Global Prehistory because we do not have enough outside of form to do a thorough FFCC chart.
I would start with having students discuss with their partner what they remember and write down what they feel sure of – remember, this is a review activity. Once they have exhausted that, then they can use resources (notes, Khan Academy, whatever) to polish off their notes. This takes me about 40 minutes and I put the posters up to use for future review activities, especially to review the format FRQ #1 (Comparison).
This is not an exhaustive list, but just some of my musing of pairings. Feel free to reach out to me to add to this list!
