In an effort to actually maintain my 2020 goals, because they are in fact good for me, I figured I would blog about them. This seems to be a good medium for reflection and accountability for me. Soooo let’s see how I did in December shall we?
1. Find a morning prayer routine
I got a little less diligent this month, I don’t know what it is with December and just feeling too busy to slow down???
2. Travel internationally relatively cheaply at least once
√ 3. Finish our master bathroom renovation
I can finally say it!!! This is DONE!!!!
4. Work out at least twice a week
Week 1:
- I was awful at this; just so incredibly exhausted
Week 2:
- I was awful at this; just so incredibly exhausted
Week 3:
- 3 mile walk with a friend to get breakfast
- 1 hour hike with a friend
Week 4:
- Lots & lots of mountain hiking while in Georgia for a few weeks
Week 5:
- pssssh the week between Christmas & New Year’s – you’re joking!
5. Build a bookcase for our library
6. Do not purchase new clothes unless I get rid of something first
Didn’t buy anything; I try not to buy personal items in December. . .ya know Christmas?
7. Reduce our grocery bill by $100 a month (it’s like $800 right now!)
Week 1:
- Thursday, December 4: $25.68 at Publix
- Monday, December 7: $114.68 at Winn-Dixie
Week 2:
- Thursday, December 11: $100.16 at Publix
- Thursday, December 17: $48.60 at Publix
Week 3:
- we were on vacation in Georgia where we bought stuff for the cabin – I do not count vacations towards this budget
Week 4:
- December 24: $140.27 at Bravo Hispanic Supermarket
- December 25: $101.67 at Publix
Week 5:
- December 28: $38.99 at Target
Grocery TOTAL for December: $499.89
Restaurant TOTAL: $- (we were on vacation for 4 days & had a wedding this month so all our restaurants were for those – not counting them here)
8. Finish decorating the living spaces in our home
Decorated for Christmas yes lol
9. Read and/or listen to at least 30 books
I do a big book review at the end of the year but these are the books I have read or listened to in December:
- Ship of Theseus
- Every Sacred Sunday Mass Journal: 2020-2021
- Theology of Home II: The Spiritual Art of Homemaking (finished)
- Advent and Christmas Wisdom from Padre Pio
- Drinking with Saint Nick: Christmas Cocktails for Sinners and Saints (finished)
- The Horse and His Boy (finished)
- Cooking with the Saints (finished)
10. Blog at least once a week (or 52 times over the year)

11. Transform part of my backyard into some kind of garden
12. Practice yoga at least once a month
Here are the following times I practiced yoga:
- I did pack my yoga mat to Georgia! (Will is a Grinch & did not let the house warm up more than 65 degrees so there was no way I was taking my socks off to down dog it in that temperature)
- December 31 – Hatha Yoga for Arm Strength (27:15)
√13. Cook a meal 100% out of my pantry at least every other week
√ 14. Apply to (& get accepted) to one summer program
15. Host someone over for dinner at least once a month
16. Write a letter (& mail it!) at least once per month
Christmas cards!!! CHECK CHECK & CHECK!
17. See at least 5 artworks from the AP Art History 250 Curriculum
18. Have a cheap date with my hubby at least once a month
Spending a few days in a free cabin in Georgia 100% counts towards this goal
√ 19. Get at least a 65% pass rate for my students in AP World History
√20. Vote Trump out of office (!!!!)
Hellllll yaaaaa babyyyyy!!!!! That man can fight all he wants – he is GONE!
