2018-2019 Humanities I Plan

So we’ll see if I stick to the plan (I usually *always* do) but I like to have a sketch of the length of my units before I start teaching. It can be easy to get carried away with a class like Humanities because the standards are so vague and there is no Instructional Plan to guide me. I have actually taught this class for the past 4 years but every year has been totally different. This year I hope to incorporate lessons that I have loved from the past four years and bring them together into a seamless course.

Each of my units are about 3 weeks long with a mix of activities, reading, films, and discussion. Most of the units I am teaching are repeats but I’m adding in a few new ones here to incorporate my love of historic religions. So here is my general layout for Humanities 2018-2019:

Quarter 1

Quarter 2

  • Ancient Judaism (NEW UNIT!)
  • Celtic & Norse World
  • Ancient Greece

Quarter 3

  • Philosophy
  • Ancient Rome
  • Early Christianity (NEW UNIT!)

Quarter 4

  • Islamic World (NEW UNIT!)
  • Medieval Europe

  1. Hi! Am beginning to come across a few things of interest. Will send your way. I have been enjoying your travels from your blog. I will be organizing pictures as well. Got some very neat stuff. 🙂 Am enjoying your blog and was thinking the AP World this summer did add some things to my thought process. In prof dev all week …jealous of your Humanities gig. 🙂 Nanci
